Ned Scharfenberg focuses his practice on representing small and mid-sized companies and investors, as well as individuals in their business endeavors. 

He began his career in New York in the securitization and structured finance departments of two leading global law firms before working in various roles in-house in the finance sector.  From 2007 to 2011, he worked at Fishman Haygood, LLP in his hometown, New Orleans, on M&A transactions and diverse corporate and transactional matters.  From 2012 to 2016, he lived in Berlin, Germany, where he represented a range of clients involved in equity financings and dispositions, and oil and gas exploration in the U.S., while serving as “outside” general counsel for start-ups and portfolio companies of private equity funds.  While in Germany, he served on the supervisory board (“Aufsichtsrat”) of a listed German office REIT at the behest of a client.  He was the Chicago partner of a New Orleans law firm from 2017 to 2019.

Ned is admitted to practice in Illinois, New York and Louisiana. 

A dedicated concertgoer and tennis player, he lives in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood with his wife and son.
